Reeve Jim McCarthy
Council Involvement:
Elected to Council in October of 2010.
Darlene and Jim have been residents of Springfield, living in the Cooks Creek Area since 1975. They raised their three children Ryan, Meaghan and Bohdan in Springfield and all three attended the Elementary, Junior High and High Schools in Oakbank. Our family has been a past member of Cooks Creek Community Club, Hazelridge Community Club, Oakbank Community Club and all three children were members of the Selo Ukrainian Dancers in Anola. Jim and Darlene curl on a regular basis at the Springfield Curling Club in Dugald.
Jim was employed by Manitoba Hydro for 36 years and he has enjoyed this career from beginning to end. He started as a Power Electrician travelling throughout all of Manitoba and progressed to the position of the Electrical Apparatus Manager for the Winnipeg and surrounding area. While working and raising their family with Darlene, Jim took evening courses and has graduated from the Canadian Institute of Management and Public Sector Management at the University of Manitoba. Jim believes that learning is a lifelong process and has completed numerous leadership, management and human resources related courses.
