Council Meetings

R.M. of Springfield Council meets on the first (6:30 p.m.), second (1:00 p.m.) and fourth (6:30 p.m.) Wednesday of each month.  Any changes to this schedule are posted in advance.

Meetings are held at the Council Chambers in Oakbank, 628 Main Street.

Education and Certifications:

An honor graduate in the profession of Power Engineering from Red River Community College, I have earned my Inter-Provincial First Class Power Engineering Certificate and a North American National Board Commission with "A" and "B" endorsements from the National Board in Columbus, Ohio.  Many courses completed in project management, financial management, commitment accounting, leadership and human resource management through continued education and life long learning programs. 

Family:

My wife Donna and I have two children, Kyra and Blake.  Our family is very community orientated and we participate in Springfield Minor Hockey, Springfield Minor Baseball, Springfield Curling Club, Selo Ukrainian Dance, and Sunrise School Division Band Programs.  We are members of Oakbank Community Club, Anola Community Club, and past member of Hazelridge Community Club.  Past treasurer of the Oakbank Community Club Executive and also served on the Springfield Minor Hockey Executive.  I have participated in coaching and managing roles to help children become better members of the community.

Employment:

I am presently employed as Manager of Operations, Chief of Inspections for the Mechanical and Engineering Branch, Department of Labour and Immigration, Manitoba since 1992.  At the workplace my responsibilites include the administration of 6 different Acts and corresponding Regulations.  We ensure Manitobans are not exposed to hazardous situations related to mechanical devices such as boilers, pressure vessels, refrigeration plants, elevators, escalators, electrical, and amusement rides through inspection activities, design review and the certification of these devices to operate safely.  We perform the examination and/or licensing of power engineers, electricians, and gas and oil fitters.  We also promote safety and safety awareness throughout Manitoba.

Achievements:

  • Establishment of the Springfield Food Bank, 2008
  • Enhancement of the new Springfield Public Library, 2008
  • Substantial new investments into our community clubs and sports fields with capital funds, 2007-2008
  • Substantial new funding in operating grants for all community clubs, 2007-2008
  • Implementation of the Emergency Operations Plan through actual exercises, 2007-2008
  • Appointment of a full time Fire Chief to lead the Springfield Fire and Rescue Service, 2007
  • Significant support of the First Responder Program with our Springfield Fire and Rescue Service, 2007-2008
  • Appointment of an experienced new Chief Administrative Officer and a Chief Financial Officer (Chartered Accountant), 2007-2008
  • Attraction of important new businesses to our Municipality
  • Doubling of the Public Safety Officers
  • Planning for new Springfield Center 2008-2009
  • Opening of Fire Hall #3 in the Western Industrial Area
  • Purchase of First Responder Fire Truck in Fire Hall #3
  • Major Improvements to our two Transfer Stations
  • Many successful grant funding applications
  • Working in partnership with our partners in government federally and provincially
  • New supportive housing complex - 2010 construction date
  • New two bay ambulance building - 2010 construction date
  • Equitable ward expenditures throughout the RM
