In the fall of 2019, the Rural Municipality of Springfield initiated three new planning projects that will further define its future growth. The projects are:
1. A secondary plan for the West Pine Ridge Area
2. A secondary plan for the Oakbank South Area
3. A comprehensive review of Springfield's Zoning By-Law
In November 2019, a series of in-person public information sessions were held to gather information from residents and landowners in creation of the Secondary Plans and Zoning By-law (Phase 1 Engagement). The draft Secondary Plans and draft Zoning By-law were presented virtually through a narrated presentation and other documents posted on the RM of Springfield website in December 2020. A survey requesting feedback on the documents was available until mid-January 2021 (Phase 2 Engagement).
THIS IS THE THIRD AND FINAL ROUND OF ENGAGEMENT
We will be hosting three virtual open houses in May to present the final draft Secondary Plans and Zoning By-law. The open houses on each project will present the final draft documents and highlight changes made as a result of feedback received during Phase 2 Engagement.

West Pine Ridge Secondary Plan Virtual Open House – Tuesday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m.
The intent of the West Pine Ridge Secondary Plan is to facilitate additional rural residential development south of Birds Hill Park. Development in this area should be compatible with existing and adjacent uses, maintain the rural nature of the area and protect groundwater resources.
The West Pine Ridge survey will close Friday, May 21.

Oakbank South Secondary Plan Virtual Open House – Tuesday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m.
The purpose of the Oakbank South Secondary Plan is to recognize Oakbank as the largest settlement centre in the municipality and to promote efficient and orderly development of the southern area of town, where the majority of serviced growth will be direct over the next 20 years.
The Oakbank South survey will close Friday, May 28.

Zoning By-law Virtual Open House – Tuesday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Springfield’s Zoning By-law was last updated in 2010 and needed to be updated to reflect the recently adopted Development Plan and the new draft Secondary Plans.
The Zoning By-law survey will close Friday, June 4.
